GBMA Australia
The Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association (GBMA) is a representative body of generic and biosimilar medicine suppliers in Australia. Its members ensure that all Australians are offered the highest quality generic and biosimilar medicines in the world whilst providing affordable community health outcomes that benefit all Australians.
The Biosimilar Hub has been designed to help Australians better understand biosimilar medicines through the provision of independent, evidence-based information.
GBMA Education
GBMA Education was awarded a Biosimilar Education Grant by the Australian Government in April 2018. The purpose of the Grant was to increase confidence in the use of biosimilar brands of biological medicines that are listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Through the increased use of biosimilar medicines, the objective was to support a competitive market for biological medicines.
Materials developed for the Biosimilar Hub were developed in collaboration with representatives from across medical, pharmacy, medicines industry, consumer advocates and the Department of Health.
